Today I watched the rendition of the worse variety show have ever seen. The Greatest Comedian. The whole competition variety show rage in Singapore started across the Atlantic Ocean.... all the way in the USA with American Idol…
American Idol then fueled Channel 5 to buy over the “name” and start {Singapore Idol}!
Soon, some asked, why not a singing competition for Chinese songs!? And {Project Superstar} was founded.
Then it was “What about the teenagers?!” and there was {Campus Superstar}.
Coming up next, “What about bands!?” and {Fei Chang Super Band} was born.
Now, {The Greatest Comedian} is aired by Channel 8.
Not to mention {Dance}. The show inspired by “So You Think You can Dance?” in the US.
Even the infamous Mr Brown had a say on the subject. Dubbing the competition in this podcast “Where are they idoling now?” as {Singapore Fei Chang Super Campus Star Plus band Contest}
Ok Back to the main point,
As I watched “The Greatest Comedian”, I did not laugh.
Not even once.
The show was horrible. The jokes were horrible. And if such a statement was coming from such a lame person as me, you know the situation that we have at hand now.
It was not a competition of Comedians. Rather, it was a competition of “Ppl willing to degrade themselves to TRY and make other ppl laugh to be on TV.”
Horrible.
The show was filled with pathetic impersonations, songs that were belted out of tune and at least 1 striptease.
This is degrading Variety Shows. Literally. Its not fit to be called a variety show at all actually. Its Bullshit.
The worse thing was that the contestants were willing to degrade themselves to TRY and make other laugh.
That’s the job of a CLOWN, not a COMEDIAN. GET IT RIGHT.
