Failure? or Success?

Erm. Yesterday during the school's chapel, for once I wasn't actually sleeping during the whole thing itself. And I actually listened to the lady as she talked on the topic of Failure that day... I'm still not very sure who she is actually, I believe its Pastor Ng Moh Ying, I can't be very sure.

Nevertheless, I was rather impressed by her sermon, very persuasive tone with a strong touch to it. Managed to even wrap it up well... Could tell that she was a lawyer before moving to this profession.

Anyways my point. On her topic of failing... Unfortunately, I strongly disagree with the sermon actually. Maybe I'm just to stubborn to accept new views, but her views really just looked like bullshit to me.

For one, I believe that we should not view failing as being human. Sure, it is a human thing to do, but having such a way of thinking would really just negate the point of the fear of failing right?

We must first realize that the fear of failing the one of the most powerful driving forces to success. Without the fear of failing, the desire of success is actually not enough to push us towards that golden trophy. There needs to be repurcussions to actually deter us from slacking and procrastinating through our tasks.

To see failure and something human, and the results to be natural and acceptable is really... unacceptable. We must hate to fail, and hate to handle the things that come after failing, so as we would work to our best to prevent it from happening.

Secondly, I believe that when we fail, we should not compare ourselves with others. As young teenagers, I believe I speak for all of us that competition is what that drives us in most of our activities in Junior College life. From acedemics and sports, its the thrill of the competition that spurs us on to strive for the crown and outperform the rest.

The beauty about competitions is that it never ends. Even after a failure, the competition continues, all the way till the end of our lives. After failure, comparsion with our peers would let us know the areas where we are behind and catch up in those specific areas and retake the lead! Then try to maintain the lead while you have it and spur yourself on to be ahead of the competition. Both ways we would be motivated to actually push ourselves on and improve ourselves with our friends around us.

While I seem to take a very forceful stand on the issue, I do realize that there are those who are unable to handle failure. This is not because they are physically or emotionally unable to do so, but because they are having misconceptions about failure itself.

They believe that failure is actually the end, but what that has to be realized is that its actually the beginning of a catch up race, rather than the end of the competition.

Also, they believe that failure shows that you suck, but it actually means that you got a greater chance to pull a perfect turnover to recreate success again.

With the right mindset about failure, go on and compete, and be afraid of failure. For they are great movtivation and the real mother of success.

On other news, I decided that I'm not going to do anything liao. That's it. She know and she's not avoiding me, for that I should count my blessings. I shall just stay close and just enjoy whatever that life may bring, and just live it the way I think it should be, without regrets.
