Hmmm, sick at home again, waddaya know. O well.
Yesterday morning, after contact time, I found out that Tim had a copy of the recent Bleach movie in his Ipod, and since PW was cancelled, I spent the whole 1 hour and 40 mins watching the movie.Wasted mugging time T_T.
Well, after the movie, Tim asked me quite an interesting question about the movie.
"Do you feel bad for Senna? I feel so bad for her lah!"
Erm, from this point onwards, knowledge of the story and plot is needed to understand. Click Here for the summary. =)
Senna, to put it blatently, is not even a living being. She is the Memory Rosary, a being formed together by the memories of the blanks and returned to the real world. But while she is only a compounded mass of memories, she has been able to express herself as an individual, with the other memories breaking in only once in a while.
A completely pure and naive character, able to express her own feelings: anger, pain, happiness etc.
So? The question here is not will be feel bad for her. If not for Adi and Tim sitting in front of me in Oldham Wing when I was watching the movie I think I would have cried at the ending scene Lols. As a movie, its made to move the heart.
But the question here is, SHOULD we feel bad for her/it?
Its not human, its not even supposed to have existed. The existence of Senna was only because the souls moved out of the space between the Real World and Soul Society, separating their souls and memories. It was an accident that caused the formation of the Memory Rosary.
Then again, why should we not feel bad for her? Whilst her creation was a complete accident, with her having her own emotions and head to think for herself, shouldn't that be enough reason to relate her to a normal human?
*Edit* Come to think of it, pre-marital sex had its own respectable number of 'accidents' too right? LOLS */Edit*
I believe, that to have emotions, is to be human. No matter for your cranial size or opposable thumbs.
Its great to feel isn't it?
Anyways, I still think that the movie ended the way that it should have ended. That Senna sacrificed herself to prevent the disaster, and that every memory about her was erased when she was gone. (As a memory bank, her disappearance would mean the deletion of every memory to do with her.) Even to the point when Ichigo lied to her that her name was on the tombstone.
Anyways, great movie. Gonna buy the DVD when its out =D.
