Hmm, sorry for the identical title again. Lols, really can't think of anything to put up there with so many things happening its difficult to choose between them all.
O wells, day by day again?
Tuesday 15 April
Today was the NS Medical Checkup. I won't talk about how I was scammed to have gone there once before, but at least this time was quite a success. Supposed to reach there at 8.30am, but even though I was there at 8.25am, there were already about 30 people waiting in line before me.
Before going into NS checkup, I realized how badly publicized the whole checkup procedure is. I guess this part of the blog is to tell you guys what goes on so we know what's gonna happen alright =)
Firstly, walking into the compound, go through the usual security procedure. Full body scan and the likes, before going to the information counter to get a locker for your cameras and phones. Its a pretty short procedure, only about 2 mins before you enter the premises and walk towards the Central Manpower Base building.
Going in, first thing you see is the information counter. Pass them your IC and they'll direct you into the phototaking room. Going in, put your bag onto the chair and let the guy pick out a uniform for you. Take off your clothes there, and wear the wear-on uniform for the picture.
After taking the picture, proceed straight into the Medical Screening Center.
Walking into the Medical Screening Center, first thing you see is the Registration Booth. Give them your IC and the Medical Declaration Form. Sit down on the chairs provided and wait to be called. When called, you will be given a sheet of paper together with a blue file and some identification stickers. Move to Station 1, Urine and Blood Test.
The Urine test is done before the blood test. Take a bottle and a testing strip and proceed into the toilet. Go to the urinal and above them should have the instructions properly pasted. Pee into the bottle in the urinal, dip the paper in, pour away the urine. Show the paper, throw into the dustbin. Simple.
After the urine test, its the blood test already. Sit at the chairs and wait to be called in into the room. Extend your right arm and just relax and wait. The blood extraction method used is Venipuncture, and because 2 test tubes of blood is to be collected, vacuum tubes are used. So its 1 shot, but 2 test tubes by changing the test tube when its full. First the guy tightened a latex glove around my arm and hit my elbow area a few times, then the vein started to stand out already. Then in went the needle lols. Unlike contrary belief, my shot went rather well without any pain actually, so it should be fine I guess.
After the blood test, its the hearing test with the Audiometer at Station 5. Give the guy your file, sit down wait and read the instructions. Going into the room, wear the headphones and listen for sound. When you hear something raise up your hand on that side. The sounds are just soft beeps differing in pitch, so don't expect to hear something obvious. But its rather fast and simple.
After hearing its the eye test, station 4. Going in first its the colour blindness test. (Which I failed. Yes, I'm partially colour-blind folks.) After the colour blindness its the usual eyesight test. Stand there, cover left eye, cover right eye done. No hassle.
Moving on to Station 3, the chest X-Ray. First, leave your bag outside the scanning room and strip off topless, leaving your shirt with your bag. Stand in from of the X-Ray machine, breath in, Done. As simple as that. Really, nothing much at all.
Next is Station 4, Dental. Its just like a usual Dental Checkup, look at your teeth, if your molars have erupted. I was asked to do an X-Ray of my mouth as well, though I have no idea why I so special hahas. Before the X-Ray I was asked to do a survey form as well, which you'll probably encounter at least once through the whole day. The Dental X-Ray was quite cool, with the source and receiver circling around your whole head as you bite on to a plastic holder.
After station 4, was Station 6. Last and longest station around. Walking in, don't be shocked to see everybody topless. Go straight to the information counter's left side (Left side of the clerk at the counter) There will be a green basket full of keys and a log book. Take a key, sign in at the log book, and proceed to the key's locker at the back of the room. Strip topless and take off your shoes. Throw everything into the locker.
Firstly, unlike the rumours going around online, you DO NOT have to strip to your boxers. Shorts will do. In fact, I woke long pants as I was wearing the school uniform.
So go straight into the ECG room and have an ECG Test. In the Room, you'll be asked to pick up another form, a form for the confirmation of your PES Status. You'll be asked to only fill in your Name, IC, Date and sign at the bottom right hand corner of the paper, the rest will be filled up by the Doctor later. After filling up the form, the ECG Test will start. Its the standard test, 2 plastic grips on your legs, 2 around your wrist, and 5 suction cups around your chest. Hold it there and let the machine go for about a minute and its done.
At the same station, after the ECG test, come out of the room and go towards the Height and Weight station together with Blood Pressure Test. What's there to say about this, standard lah lols.
After height and weight, return to the information counter and get a waiting number from them. Then wait to see the doctor. Going in, he'll ask you to stand at a place about a meter away and strip.
Yah, strip, show him your balls. Unlike what you guys think, there is NO touching. No idea what this check is for, but what the hell screw it I dun want to know. LOLs. The doctor will then ask if there is anything to declare. And you're done. The doctor will also confirm your PES Status there. I'm PES B =D
Go out of the doctor's room, to the back of the station room and get everything out of the locker and get dressed. After that, move out and into the last part, the vocational test on the computer. (Sry, but I'm really not sure what this is called.)
Go to the counter, sign on your name and go to the computer given to you. On the table will be a blank piece of paper and a pencil. There will be plenty of tests on the computer for you to do.
Unfortunately, I dun wanna get into trouble, so the questions shall remain a secret until you guys do them yourself then. But its pretty long about 1 hour+.
Altogether, expect to finish in about 3.5 hours to 4 hours. Its a long test, with plenty of waiting time but not enough for you to do anything constructive like reading a book. Its a good idea to book the earliest slot so there won't be a long waiting line, which I did and managed to finish fast at about 3 hours 15 mins.
Alright, that's kok's guide to NS Medical Checkup, hopefully some guy found that useful out there. Enjoy 2 years ofwasting time NS guys =)
Came back from NS checkup and went back to school. Was weird walking around in school with the 2007 orientation shirt lols. Like some extra. Helped Maria out and attended the GP Lecture held that day by a Mdm Halimah Bte Yacob, Jurong Group Representation Constituency Member and a lot of other stuffs that I couldn't remember. The topic was on "One Nation, One People, One Singapore. What does it mean to me."
Well spoken, though I must say that the whole view was rather biased, but what to say, its her job to remain politically correct right? =)

Wednesday 16 April
Today was a normal school day, except for the afternoon, where we went over to ACS Barker Road for a friendly International Chess Competition. The 8 of us met at the concourse at 2.10pm exactly, just after PCCG Period for the JC1s and a talk for the JC2s. Allowed Daniel to lead the group to the school, quite disappointing that I discovered that he didn't know where he was going. LOLs.
Got to Barker 5 mins late from the arranged 3pm. It went on nicely, managed to play with some of the stronger players in the group and it was good fun. Games ended at about 5.30pm after all the packup.
After the game, Shaun Sim suggested that we could have a talk before leaving back home. Adelene was free and I had a meeting with the BP guys to eat at Holland Village, but I still had an hour to spare so we went to a shop there called Waffletown and ate. I took 6 Spring Rolls, Shaun took a burger set and Adelene bought a cup of Milo. And there were sat down talking. Shaun Sim talked about a whole lot of things, from his life to the Science of the world. Rather interesting. If he would like, I wouldn't might publishing about what he lectured us on that day, waiting for reply Shaun =)
Of course, we did talk about other issues there. And so I completely forgot about the meeting with the BP guys and we continued to talk on about MBTI, psychology, and yes, even relationships.
Yah, Adelene and I managed to clear up some stuffs that day as well and I guess that's a good thing =)
So by the time we went home, it was 9.20pm. I kid you not, we left Newton at 9.20pm. Took bus 67 all the way back to Choa Chu Kang and only reached home at 11pm. It was a good an interesting day though. Will lengthen this post when given the permission to.

Thursday 17 April
Didn't had a good night sleep cause reached home late yesterday. lols. Didn't help that today was the day of my External H3 Linear Algebra Laboratory Test. Studied through the breaks of the day like a madman. Fortunately the test ended up to be manageable and not crazy.
And so I finished blogging. Sorry, if not for already spending 2 hours on this post I would have made Thursday longer, but what the heck I need to sleep. Lols. Perhaps I'll do it some other time.
