No, not the idiom, but a nice little eating diner down near Bugis, specifically at 420 North Bridge Road, North Bridge Centre. The name is because its actually the second social enterprise of this group, with the first called School of Thought, a GP tuition company right above at the 6th floor of the building.
The place is open from Mondays to Saturdays from 10am to 10ish, not reflected on the website, but I would believe that piece of paper hanging on the door more.
Walking in, the place does seem to be rather small, but its was still rather cozy for the past 2 times I walked in at different times. It can get squeezy as we tried to order at the counter with people walking around, but it wasn't that bad. Good choice of songs playing at the speakers as well, and the walls are decorated with pictures and mementos from their past trips to rural areas of regional countries and building them facilities.
The food, while sides dishes and drinks are of an incredible variety, the choices of the main dishes are perhaps too few. No menu is required, look around and the walls are chalked with the dishes and prices for all to see already, except for the cakes at the end of the counter. I was running low on cash, so I just had a student's sandwich meal. Basically a sandwich with 2 choices between soup, drink and salad at $8.90. The main dishes were also at reasonable prices from $10.90 to $17.90. I had the soup and drink, and while the ice lemon tea was decent, something struck me about the soup. It was the house special of Shiitake Mushroom, and it was quite a weird taste. The initial gentle taste was pleasing, until it was overwhelmed with a bitter aftertaste. Until now I have no idea what it was, but I was convinced that it was just pepper, so I just finished the soup anyways.
The sandwich, on the other hand. Gosh, I had a Slow-Roasted Pulled Pork, and it was fantastic. Would have loved to have a bit more of the barbecue sauce in it, but it was really good. Like. Damn good. Go eat it. Lols. In fact, I was tempted to try their wide range of coffees and cakes, too bad I didn't have much money left on me.
Generally, it was a pleasant experience, would recommend at least a try and allow your tastebuds to decide for themselves. =D
Peektures coming up! =)
It was a good place, small, but still cozy.
Not my food. James' Sandwich.
And whatever's leftover of James' plate =D
