Surprised? Don't be. Its a long story. And I shall begin now.
I actually woke up every early in the morning. At 2am. Just couldn't get myself to sleep. Ended up on the computer all the way to the morning before the family went out for breakfast. Ate some Fishball Noodles and my dad dropped my mom off at home. She had to care for my brother when he returns from school, so she can't come.
My dad just can't be bothered to waste time there.
Anyways, because we were 3 hours early, my dad just decided to do some transportation work first. Went to Eunos to collect an engine, then to Jurong to buy parts and then Tuas to deliver the engine. Managed to come back to Pasir Ris just on time for me to board the last ferry into the island.
While walking to the ferry, I remember the strong wind that was blowing that day. It was really strong. Epic. While in the boat, you see the trees sway, and you just can't help to realize that you're going to be spending the next 2 years in that place.
Took the boat, and followed the rest of the pre-enlistees. We were asked to give up our ICs first and collect a slingbag. And moved on to a pit stop where we were supposed to be given our initial briefing.
Halfway through the briefing, they asked for us to declare any existing injuries. So I just declared my knee sprain that I had gotten at the 26 November from that Volleyball game. Yes, its still not healed yet, I'm starting to think that its a tear, not a pull. Its already gave up on me thrice after that. Like, just letting go and I fall right to the ground.
The Corporal, Kian, then led me to the Medical Building and waited to be seen by the Medical Officer.
Go in let the Medical Officer check my knee, and while he was doing so, he ended up discovering that I had Ligamentous laxity, in other words, loose ligaments. So I'm more susceptible to sprains and ligament damage. its like some hereditary defect that I never knew I had. O.o
So after getting the opinion from the 2nd MO at the place, he confirmed the problem. He was intending to give me a choice to continue with the course if it was only the knee damage, but because of this... defect, they told me to get off Tekong and get to CMPB(Central ManPower Base) and recheck on my PES Status.
Now the problem was that, by then, it was already at 3.20pm and I had to get to CMPB by 4pm. The next ferry only arrived at the SAF Ferry Terminal at 3.40pm, where I managed to hail a cab so I could arrive as fast as possible. It was really funny to be the only teenage boy there with all the parents on the boat back. Really felt like they're watching and questioning why I'm getting off the island.
I reached CMPB at 4.30pm, 15 mins just before they close or the day. The MO at CMPB then agreed with the opinion and put me in PES D first, meaning awaiting the specialist checkup, and booked me on a checkup at SGH on 30th January. 1050 hr.
Finally, dragging that heavy bag, I went to the train station and took a train home. Wasn't an easy day as well.
...
Now here's my dilemma. I'm given the choice to downPES to C. However, the problem is that I could not be given the 2 months reduction that I would have had at PES B. However, since both my injured ligament and this hereditary defect could BOTH bring me down to PES C, the MOs are asking me to just keep to PES C. But we'll see how the report goes.
And to speak of the truth, Tekong really looked like a nice place to be in. I was really looking forward to life there. Almost looked like I was going to enjoy it!
