Chem SPAS

Today was the dreaded day for all science practical n00bs. A day when all who breaks 1 test tube per session trembles upon hearing. A day that can scare the socks off the best theorist. It was.... Chemistry SPAS.

*Thunder flashes across the sky with evil music playing in the background*

Actually, SPAS was more of an entertaining performance rather than an A level Examination. First, it started with the guy right beside my bench, Ian Lee. While boiling his dissolved F4 and Iron(III) Chloride solution, a waterfall was formed and it basically flowed out of the testtube without stop in front of the teacher non-stop. The smooth and endless flowing kept everybody on the testtube for a long period of time as the were captivated by its beauty(Including the teacher). What a beautiful performance.

Then it was time for my act. While simmering a F4 + Ethanol + Concentrated Sulphuric Acid solution, without a sign, the first bubble that emerged from the solution caused the solution to implode and squrt! And the solution flew ACROSS the bench and HIT Shaun Sim right on the arm. A beautiful leap of faith by the white precipitate in its colourless solution at about 100°C with Concentrated Sulphuric Acid. Lucky the latter has reacted, thus it didn't kill him cause any further harm. Kids, dun try it at home!

Finally, to close up the curtain was Timothy's act! Same solution! With different artistic results! Apparently the solution spurted out of the testtube, onto the table, and the ethanol caught fire.

Yes, the bench was on fire. Though we remember about Shaun Ng's experiment with ethanol, let us consider one additional fact to show that this pwns Shaun's incident.

His Chemistry A levels Chemistry Singapore Practical Assessment Answer Sheet was on the table and caught fire.

*Thumbs up* What an end to the performance! Incredible, I can almost see an encore of such a spectacular performance in the near future!

Or not.
