Well, from the title of the Chinese New Year Celebrations today at ACJC, it was quite obvious that the school didn't like even a word of Chinese in anything that they do Lols. Once again, the idea that its Anglo-(Minus) Chinese Junior College is upheld.
Today was a decent event I guess. Started out the day standard, and with a contact time period which we used to entertain the juniors with lao yu sheng and celebrating the birthday of Shawn Lee and Daniel. Lols.
Arrived at the event late by 5 mins due after clean up and throwing away the trash, luckily the event hasn't started as well.
Event opened up with AC Chinese Orchestra. And while this might sound evil, it made me feel so glad that I didn't join the ACCO. The only reason that they'all could have screwed up so badly...
Wait there isn't any. Cause its not SYF Year.
Anyways, that was followed by the Strings Ensemble. Which totally pwned CO even though it was Chinese New Year. Unlike last time, the strings could be heard loud and clear, only occasionally overtaken by the uninterested students talking amongst themselves.
The Chinese Cultural Society followed, a major let-down compared to last year's performance. Sure, by normal standards, it was an acceptable act, but compare it to last year, this was nothing Lols.
ACSian Theatre then did a dance. Which left everybody wondering whether the emcee had read the wrong group.
Indian dance... What am I to say? I'm really surprised how unchinese oriented this whole thing is.
The Malay Cultural Society had a part too, and they substituted famous pop songs with lyrics relation to Chinese New Year. And it pwned the Chinese Cultural Society act lah. Lols. I mean, imagine this to the tune of Umbrella. "Ba kua, Ba kua, Kua, kua, kua..."
Then got Guitar Ensemble play some pieces(Didn't listen, had something to settle) and ACSian Dance(Doing the orientation dance with minor changes). but I dun wanna type liao lah, its was really nothing special this CNY. Last year's had more memorable performances.
Oh, there is 1 thing special.
AC Celebrates has been dominated by Malay Cultural Society(Song), ACSian Theatre(Dance), either the Guitar/Strings Ensemble(Music). How chinese is that? (=
Happy Chinese New Year all.
